The Color Kittens by Margaret Wise BrownWhether you have a budding artist or a little tot who loves books, The Color Kittens by Margaret Wise Brown will be a bedtime book your child will love for you to read to them again and again and again. The basic concept found within its pages is that the two featured kittens can create colors via color mixing. Yes, these kittens, Hush and Brush, can make all the colors in the world. No doubt, this is more complex of a book than Brown’s Goodnight Moon and The Runaway Bunny. But this title and it’s depth and creativity and clever text was always the favorite of my little boy at bedtime. He never had me read it two times in a row, but there were times when we read it multiple times in one week. I think if you are trying to help foster a love of art in your child, this picture book along with The Art Lesson by Tommie dePaola are two of the best books you could buy.

If you’ve read The Color Kittens to your children or grandchildren, we’d love to know your thoughts on this, one of Margaret Wise Brown’s most beloved titles.
